The Ukrainian car traveled from Serbia to Jordan
A Ukrainian An-12 transport plane crashed near Kavala in northern Greece, the Athens News Agency reported, quoted by BGNES. Eyewitnesses said that the plane was on fire even before it hit the ground.
The incident took place west of Kavala, in the Paleochori locality of Pangai municipality – Greece. According to local media, a search and rescue operation has already begun. An Air Cargo An-12, which was traveling on a route from Serbia to Jordan, was transporting military materials, due to which multiple explosions were heard, reports airlive.net
Local authorities said 15 firefighters and seven fire engines were dispatched to the crash site.
According to media reports, the cargo plane requested permission to make an emergency landing at the nearby airport in Kavala, but was unable to reach it.
State television ERT reported that it was a Ukrainian Antonov plane.
