An F-18 Super Hornet fighter jet fell overboard of the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea, according to a statement from the US Navy, quoted by BGNES.
The incident occurred on July 8, when the aircraft carrier was replenishing water supplies.
“An F-18 fighter jet assigned to the carrier’s first wing flew overboard the aircraft carrier Harry Truman due to a sudden storm in the Mediterranean Sea,” the military said.
Instead of landing on the aircraft carrier, it was blown overboard. One sailor is injured, his condition is stable, his life is not in danger. The fighter was taken out.
Both the aircraft and the aircraft carrier are “fully ready to continue the mission,” the US Navy said in a statement.
