An energy company in the southeastern United States has asked consumers to conserve energy to reduce the strain on the electricity grid.
Dominion Energy said in a statement that it has specifically asked consumers in Virginia and North Carolina to conserve energy after bad weather caused demand to surge over the Christmas holidays.

Dominion said power has been restored.
The company also restored power to some 40,000 consumers who suffered power outages on Friday due to high winds.
