A swindler posing as a doctor disfigured 11 women in her “aesthetic studio” in Belgrade, the Blic newspaper reported. The charlatan was detained while trying to escape from the country on the border with Croatia.
In March, a group of women and men filed lawsuits against 31-year-old Olgica Markanovic, who was accused of disfiguring them in her beauty salon after the so-called brazilian aesthetic procedures. Except in Belgrade, the pseudo-doctor also worked in Banja Luka, where there are also its victims.
An inspection by the health ministry found that Markanovic had caused health problems to the 11 victims who reported the report, some of whom also had serious health problems. Photos of people have also been published with burns on the face. Markanovic worked without a license or permission from the health ministry, the inspection said.
Photos on the Instagram page “Scars from the Brazilian office” shocked the public, and some of the victims were willing to share with everyone what they went through after the treatment in the said salon. That the problem is big is exacerbated by the fact that more and more victims are joining the site every day.
One of them is Zeljana Milanovic, who says she decided on the treatment after seeing some great results on the Instagram profile of this salon, which eventually turned out to be the work of Photoshop.
The prosecution is yet to decide whether to keep Markanovic in custody.
Under Article 254 of the Serbian Penal Code, anyone who deals with the treatment or provision of other medical services without appropriate professional education is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to three years.
He was also arrested in Serbia last week fake plastic surgeon – Sasha Knezevic, who is actually a masseur and who, together with his mother, who is a florist, performed surgical operations for which they had no knowledge or license.
