Morocco coach Walid Regragui expects an African team to win the World Cup in the next 15 years after his team became the first African and Arab team to reach the World Cup semi-finals in history.
Regragui said in statements to reporters after Morocco lost the match for third and fourth place on Saturday: We wanted to bring joy to the hearts of our fans, but we are happy nonetheless, we are among the four best teams in the world.
And he continued: “African football is ready to effectively face the best teams in the world and provide the best levels. We will most likely absorb what we achieved in Qatar after four years, in the next World Cup.” The pressure will also be higher, there will be expectations around us, that’s normal.
He concluded: I am confident that an African team will win the World Cup within 15 years.
