NKMP notes that currently one of the most pronounced features of the work of protection of cultural monuments is the significantly large amount of work and the professional experience required for it. Also, the number of questions to be considered, the level of complexity, and the amount of information to be prepared have increased.
“The increase can also be seen in creating a dialogue with society, which on the one hand is positive, but on the other hand, has created an additional amount of work without the necessary administrative capacity and funding. The board has also received the opinion that the consultation is already too broad and exaggerated, which wastes time and resources. In the creation of each new council, attention should be paid to the existing ones, so that competence is not duplicated and a systemic approach should be taken into account, as well as additional work and organizational capacity should be taken into account,” emphasizes NKMP.
One representative from the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO, “Icomos Latvija” society, “Latvija Nostra” society, Latvian Restorers Society, Latvian Archeological Society, Latvian Architects Union, Latvian Landscape Architects Association, Latvian Civil Engineers Union, Latvian Regional Association will be invited to the work of the new advisory council. architecture academies, Latvian Nature and Monuments Protection Society, Latvian Industrial Heritage Foundation, “Association of Latvian Castles and Manors”, Latvian Chamber of Crafts, Society for the Preservation of Latvian Cultural Heritage, Association of Latvian Art Scientists and Curators, as well as from individual educational institutions.
