An advanced care post at Uturoa hospital • TNTV Tahiti Nui Television

An exceptional convoy arrived in the courtyard of the Uturoa hospital this Friday: the country’s general means service (SMG) had to set up an advanced care post for Covid patients. An emergency alternative for an urgent situation: “About twenty additional beds are being put in place, hence the need also to have an oxygen supply, and there are concentrators which, once connected, will push air and enrich it with oxygen, provided, of course, that the patient’s need is not too great ” explains Jacques Raynal, Minister of Health, on an on-site visit.

Under a marquee, the beds were installed in the space of a morning. They are all equipped with fans. Only patients without complications and requiring an oxygen supply will be welcomed there: “There are 5 liter concentrators, but by plugging 2 or 3 concentrators together, you can get 15-20 liters of oxygen. It is to supplement people who have respiratory oxygen supply needs ” specifies Jacques Raynal.
