After all, in Greece the Economist doesn’t have many… subscribers! And as you understand, the information they have is incomplete. Of course, the Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is doing what he can – he must procure the issues of the magazine in stock! And it… trades. But what can a man do… . When others don’t want to read and be informed!
Two rolls
A few days ago, a Portuguese multinational that owned the only glass factory in Greece, “Youla” – it had bought it years ago – “rolled down its shutters”. And while a few days ago Mr. Mitsotakis was extolling the investment environment he has created in our country, to Canadian investors, the second blow came! The American multinational Sonoco, with two paper mills in Northern Greece, also “rolled down”. Well no one got around to informing them about the Economist?
Mr. Adonis Georgiadis
In the meantime I have informed you of my minor weaknesses. One of them, as you know, is the current Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis. He has been absorbed by the – harsh – current political reality. Fortunately, he has at his feet Mrs. Irini Agapidaki – Deputy Minister of Health – and “runs” the work in Aristotelous!
Mr. Kostas Skrekas
But I remember the old days when he was Minister of Development and Investments, because as Minister of Labor he didn’t stay long, he transited through Stadiou. And today the unfortunate Mr. Kostas Skrekas is a simple Minister of Development and fights with the … “beasts” in the market, hence the nickname “consumer troubadour”.
Past…
Back then, in the good old days, as soon as Mr. Georgiadis received a piece of “bad information” – for example about a lockout or mass layoffs from a company – he would “fall on it” as they say and try to do something. He was rummaging through banks, answering telephones, he was seized by a paroxysm of … mobility! Today all this came to pass….
Mrs. Domna Michailidou
The Minister of Labor and Social Insurance Mrs. Domna Michailidou – a likable political presence otherwise – in this case “whistles the whistle”! When Mr. Nikos Papathanasis left the Ministry of Development, he took the investment part with him – as a “gift”… – to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance. But I don’t think he cares. He fusses about others! That’s why I tell you I remember the days when the hyperactive Mr. Georgiadis was trying to do something….

The TAIPED
At least in TAIPED they never hurt.
And this week closes with the signing of contracts for important projects which, when their implementation begins, are expected to offer significant surplus value to the Greek economy.
Egnatia Street
In more detail today at 4 in the afternoon an important investment is on track for implementation.
The reason for the tender for the concession of Egnatia Road to the GEK TERNA – EGIS joint venture, which bid for approximately 1.5 billion euros.
The management of the Fund, the managing director Mr. Dimitris Politis and executives of the consortium are expected to sign the concession agreement for 35 years.
There is no need to remind you of the 40 waves through which this particular competition went through in previous years to arrive today after several years of its completion…
Ports
Earlier in the afternoon, before the signing of the Egnatia Road concession contract, the start of development projects in ports will be signaled.
More specifically, the Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy, Mr. Christos Stylianidis, and the mandated advisor of TAIPED, Mr. Panagiotis Stampoulidis, will sign the contract for the maturation of tenders from the PPF concerning the construction of infrastructure in the ports of Souda and Stylida.
The first tender concerns the construction of a new passenger station at the port of Souda.
The second tender concerns the dredging of the channel and port basin in the port of Stylida.
In addition, the two sides will advance the plan to replace the passenger shipping fleet and reduce the CO2 footprint.
Biomass register
TAIPED also does not stop at these.
The invitation to register in the Ministry of Environment and Energy’s register of companies for the management of forest biomass that will result from the implementation of the Antinero III program implemented by the PPF is already in the air.
With this project, in essence, a reform in forest management begins as the private sector is involved.

EDEFEP
The Hellenic Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Company (EDEFEP) is known to be responsible for the rights to research and exploit hydrocarbons and the granting of licenses for the development of offshore wind farms.
These are investment activities, which on the one hand promise great capital gains for the Greek economy, but at the same time cause reactions in a significant part of public opinion.
These last ones, as I learn, EDEFEP also wants to measure and record in order to proceed with the next steps of the aforementioned projects.
And for this reason, as I am also informed, he commissioned a company to conduct a poll…
The results will be interesting.
