An accident between two trucks paralyzes traffic on the outskirts of Lille

A traffic accident occurred during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, on the A1 motorway, in the direction Paris towards Lille. The Northern Prefecture recommends “absolutely” avoiding the area.

According to the road surveillance unit of the Northern prefecture, the accident involving two heavy goods vehicles took place around 3 a.m. on Thursday. Since then, the right lane and the middle lane have been neutralized, causing, around 7 a.m., a 12-kilometer traffic jam and “increasing” at Phalempin, in the direction of Paris towards Lille.

Two injured and a lot of chaos on the road

On this particularly busy route in the morning towards Lille, the traffic jam was still increasing at 8 a.m., extending over 17 kilometers, and was beginning to impact the A21 motorway, near Dourges. At the end of the morning, around 11 a.m., the reservoir was still 15 kilometers. A chaos which comes on top of the strike on the TER network of the SNCF and the climatic conditions.

According to France 3two injured are to be deplored, the drivers of the heavy goods vehicles involved. Both, aged 25 and 45, were transported to two different hospitals, in Lille and Seclin.
