All of Spain was shocked after news broke of the murder of an 11-year-old boy after being stabbed to death on a football pitch. The incident occurred this Sunday on a pitch in Mocejón, a town in the province of Toledo.
The crime was committed in the morning, local time. Apparently, a hooded man entered the Ángel Tardío sports center. The child was playing with friends. When they noticed the presence of this person, a group managed to escape, but the minor did not suffer the same fate.
The person responsible for the murder allegedly covered his face with a handkerchief and then stabbed him. The child was found near the sideline of the field, close to the stands.
When emergency services and paramedics arrived at the scene, the child was already in cardiac arrest. According to the information, resuscitation maneuvers were attempted, but were unsuccessful.
Role of the Police in Spain
The Civil Guard is searching for the perpetrator with police operations in the area. According to reports, the deployment is by land and air, as they have a helicopter. The media OkDiario reported that the author of the crime would be a 16-year-old teenager.
The Castilla-La Mancha Football Federation issued a statement on the incident and expressed its regret at the boy’s death. They also announced that all regional matches will include a minute of silence in tribute and respect for the deceased.
“The FFCM, its president and Board of Directors deeply regret what happened in Mocejón (Toledo), where an 11-year-old boy, belonging to the local Sports Schools, died on the Football Field,” they indicated in X.
A few days ago, the father of FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was stabbed. Mounir Nasraoui was stabbed last Wednesday in a parking lot in a Barcelona municipality known as Mataró. The motive is still unknown, but Spanish media reports claim that the fight began when Mounir was walking his dog in the street and water was thrown at him from one of the buildings.
