AMUPPOL Offers 100,000 Pesos Interest-Free Loans Amid Salary Increase Demands

In the midst of demands for salary increases, since last Friday, January 19, the Police Personnel Mutual Association (AMUPPOL) is filled with people queuing to receive a loan of 100 thousand pesos, to be paid in 10 interest-free installments. Many of the applicants stated that it is the alternative “to be able to make ends meet.”

Registration will end on January 31 and the loans will begin to be granted as of the 26th of the current month.

“It’s a slap in the face in the face of the increase we are asking for. Our salary is below the basic basket. “We exposed ourselves and charged 300 thousand pesos,” said an angry police officer who was carrying out the procedure.

This is not the first time that AMUPPOL has carried out a measure of this type. Under the same modality, in August 2023 they delivered loans of 50 thousand pesos to 2,000 police officers. Within an inflationary context, the mutual assured that this time they expect the number to be higher, reaching 2,500 to 3,000 loans.

Another of the officers who was at the headquarters on Rioja Street stated that he did not request loans the previous year, but that this time the situation is “unsustainable.” When asked about the use he will make of the money, he expressed that “money is needed to make ends meet.”

For its part, the Mutual Association of Police Personnel confirmed that a request for a salary update has already been made to the Ministry of Security and that “in the face of the difficult financial situation of police personnel, they are contributing their grain of sand by offering loans of 100 thousand pesos to be paid in 10 months, without interest.”
