Amtrak Service Between NYC and Philadelphia Could See Heat Delays – NBC New York

NEW YORK — Those planning to take Amtrak service between New York and Philadelphia on Wednesday may experience delays due to heat-related speed restrictions, Amtrak announced.

In a tweet, the transit agency said: “SERVICE NOTICE: Amtrak service operating between New York (NYP) and Philadelphia (PHL) may experience delays due to heat-related speed restrictions. Please check back for more information.” details or call or text 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245).”

The advisory comes on a hot and humid day that is expected to top 90 degrees in many places in the tri-state area, including Newark, which is likely to get its eighth straight day of 90 degrees or higher.

Chance of rain returns on Thursday and Friday, but the weekend is looking fantastic. Another cold front is expected to arrive in the middle of next week, bringing more heat and humidity, rain and storms.
