Nearly a third of Amsterdam’s votes will go to GroenLinks-PvdA in the House of Representatives elections next week. At least that is the outcome of a poll among Amsterdam voters by Bureau OIS on behalf of AT5 and Het Parool.
The poll was conducted among approximately 1,200 Amsterdam residents. It is striking that D66 loses more than half of the number of voters compared to the previous national elections. New Social Contract (NSC) by Pieter Omtzigt is a national contender to become the largest, but if it is up to Amsterdam voters it comes in fourth place with 9.2 percent.
According to the poll, the GroenLinks-PvdA combination will receive almost double the number of votes compared to the elections for the House of Representatives in 2021. The number of votes for the VVD remains approximately the same. The differences between Volt, the Party for the Animals and PVV are also small.
The BBB and JA21 receive less than 1 percent of the votes in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam
The participants of the poll were also asked which way they think things are going in Amsterdam. A majority (56 percent) believes that things are going in the wrong direction. 37 percent think things are going in the right direction. The rest don’t know or don’t have an answer.
More negative
In 2021 and 2019, there was not yet a majority that thought things were going in the wrong direction, so this year Amsterdam residents are more negative. Amsterdam residents who vote for GroenLinks-PvdA or D66 are more likely to be positive about where the city is going. Amsterdam residents who vote PVV, BBB, 50Plus or NSC are often more negative about the city than average.
The elections will take place on November 22.
