Amsterdam suspected drillrap murder Scheveningen turns himself in during livestream

The fugitive Tyrece B., leader of drill rap group ’73 De Pijp’, has turned himself in to the police. The police were looking for the drill rapper because of suspicion of involvement in the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Rotterdammer Cennethson ‘Chuchu’ Janga on the Pier in Scheveningen, last August.

Tyrece B. showed on a live stream on Instagram that he was present with two other men at the police station to turn himself in. “This is Tyrece B., he is wanted. He had to report,” one of the men told an agent at the reception. “This is the last man. This guy has lasted a long time,” says the other.

Bread with cheese

“We’re here,” B. says as an agent copies his ID. They laugh and lean against the counter of the police station. “You are going to eat bread with cheese, Dad”, says one of the men who is joining us with a laugh.

While waiting, the three discuss what is happening with someone who calls into the live stream. “I’ll tell you honestly, I wouldn’t do it. I would just chill until they catch me man,” one of the men says. There is no answer to the question why B. turns himself in. The police then say that the live stream has to go off.

Deadly stabbing

B. is suspected of being involved in the fatal stabbing on the Pier in Scheveningen on August 10, 2020. The stabbing took place during a confrontation between drill rap groups ’73 De Pijp’ from Amsterdam and ’24’ from Rotterdam. The two frontmen are said to have had an argument.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, the conflict escalates when Tyrece B. is grabbed by a Rotterdammer. The Rotterdammer would also reach for B.’s bag, which might contain a firearm. Images of B. have surfaced on social media showing that he was walking around in Scheveningen with a firearm.

Eleven years in prison

Earlier this month, two 21-year-old drill rappers were sentenced to 11 years in prison for the death of ‘Chuchu’. One of the two stabbed the victim in the heart with a large knife, causing the fatal stab wound. The other suspect stabbed the man in the stomach with a knife.
