Amsterdam night shop and liquor store closed after discovery of explosive | NOW

An evening shop and liquor store in the Amsterdam district of Osdorp were closed immediately on Sunday after someone was shot at the building in the night of Friday and an explosive device was found.

The closures of the shops are necessary for an indefinite period and according to Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema because of the “serious danger to public order”.

In the night from Friday to Saturday, the police were informed that shots had been heard at the Osdorper Ban. There, officers found an injured man. He was then taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

A suspicious package was found near the man. The Explosives Clearance Service Defense (EOD) has removed the explosive.

Earlier this week, a shop on the Osdorper Ban was shot at. The police cannot yet say whether the two incidents have anything to do with each other. The detective is investigating the case.
