Power went out in various parts of Amsterdam on Tuesday evening. People were without electricity for about ten minutes. It is the second time in a short time that the power has gone out in the capital. It is unclear whether the disruptions are related.
57,000 connections were affected by the power outage, a Liander spokesperson told NU.nl. It is not clear exactly how many people were without power, because not every connection is for a household. For example, there are also companies among them.
Liander reports that the power was out in sixteen postal codes on Tuesday evening: 1012, 1015, 1016, 1017, 1041, 1043, 1046, 1047, 1053, 1054, 1055, 1056, 1057, 1058, 1067, 1071. These postal codes are located in Amsterdam, among others. -West and Amsterdam-South.
It is still unclear what caused the power outage. The grid operator says that the focus is now on recovery. It will then be investigated what caused the power outage and whether it is related to Monday’s power outage. That is still unclear.
Monday’s power outage affected 68,000 connections. The outage was caused by an electricity station on Hemweg failing.
