Amsterdam bus driver injured in hospital after assault | NOW

A bus driver in Amsterdam was severely beaten on Tuesday afternoon. The man was admitted to hospital with injuries, reports the Amsterdam transport company GVB.

The assault took place around 2.30 pm in bus 21 in the Nieuw-West district. It was filmed by a bystander and then on No style posted.

The images show how the driver is roughly grabbed by the neck. It also insists on his head.

It is not clear what preceded the violence. The GVB is studying the images recorded by cameras in the bus, a spokesman for the GVB said.

The driver is still in hospital. According to the spokesperson, we have to wait for the results of MRI scans. The fact that those scans must be made indicates how violent the incident is, said the spokesman.

Chairman Pedro Peters of the OV-NL umbrella responded on Twitter to the incident: “We should never get used to this and must continue to fight it.”

As far as is known, no suspect has been arrested.
