Amphia places giant inflatable bowel in hospital

MOERDIJK – Visitors to Amphia hospital will be surprised these days when they enter the hospital. In the hallway there will be a gigantic inflatable gut for the next few days. With this, the hospital wants to draw attention to colon cancer.

In 2021, 12,909 people in the Netherlands were diagnosed with bowel cancer. As with other cancers, it is important to detect the disease early. But then it is important that people know how to recognize the symptoms of colon cancer. In order to draw attention to this, Amphia hospital will have a gigantic inflatable intestine in the coming days.

Visitors to the hospital can walk through the ‘gut’. There they receive more information about what, for example, intestinal polyps and other intestinal abnormalities look like. With the campaign, the hospital hopes to draw attention to colorectal cancer and to encourage people to participate in the population screening. People between the ages of 55 and 75 receive a call.

The inflatable gut in Amphia remains in place for several days. You will find it, seen from the entrance, in the left wing, opposite restaurant de Markt.

Colon cancer month March
March has been internationally proclaimed as bowel cancer month. The earlier colon cancer is detected, the better it can be treated. That is why the Maag Lever Bowel Foundation draws attention to the alarm signals and risk factors of colorectal cancer.
