Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Armando Bruja will remain a Chelsea player amid transfer speculation, while the Blues boss still wants “a couple more” to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham, Everton and Newcastle United are said to be interested in Bogue, who scored six goals in 32 Premier League appearances for Southampton last season.
With Romelu Lukaku returning to Inter, Timo Werner’s future is somewhat uncertain and Kai Haverth is perhaps more suited to a deeper role in 2022-23. 2018 campaign could be a great achievement for Boga at Chelsea.
While Tuchel’s preference still appears to be for Havertz as a false nine, the Blues boss has made it clear he hopes Brugge will stick with him next campaign.
“I don’t expect him to leave,” Tuchel told a news conference. “We are aware of the interest and the offers which only show that there is a lot of potential and myself and the owner will make that decision together with the player.
“Now that he has arrived, he is obviously trying to impress and trying to become a Chelsea player as soon as possible.
“After his loan to Southampton, it was very clear for him to take the next step, show his improvement and make an impression in pre-season.
“Unfortunately he injured himself and of course there’s a lot of buzz about the performances and the interest in him. We’ll see how it will be, but I’m very calm about it, because we know the situation and we have a contract.”
Tuchel has already brought in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly from Manchester City and Napoli, but lost out on Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Lukaku.
The Chelsea manager previously indicated that his first goal was Sterling, who scored 17 goals for City in all competitions last season, bettered only by Riyad Mahrez (24) and Kevin De Bruyne (19).
But Tuchel admitted he now wants two more signings with Sevilla centre-back Gilles Conde among those linked to the Premier League.
“I have the personality and I think we need other players to improve the team,” he added. “Last season we were third and there was a gap between us and Manchester City and Liverpool.
“Generally speaking, if you want to fight, even in the same position, you have to improve. You can never stand idle, because if you stand still, other teams will overtake you.
“Given the situation in which we have lost a few players, it seems logical to me that we need to bring new quality to the team to maintain our level.
“It’s always been a dream of every coach to find players in the same league and they can adapt maybe faster than other players, but it’s also a very individual process.
“Obviously, we see that Rahim knows a lot of the national team players and he knows the customs of English clubs very well, so it’s very nice to see him.
“It helps Kaleido a lot that we have some French players and we have Edo [Mendy] His colleague in the national team and of course Jorginho, who helped Napoli a lot to speed up the process.
“We need them both to be big players and that’s why we need to step things up.”
