Amouranth: Horse head video disturbs viewers – Twitch streamer without borders

Amouranth recently took a ban on Twitch. Many viewers suspect that this was because the Texas streamer streamed a disturbing horse head video.

Update from June 22nd, 2021: The two ASMR streamers Amouranth and Indiefoxx have been unbanned from Twitch again. Kaitlyn Siragusa and Jenelle Dagres were only blocked on Amazon’s streaming platform for just over three days and can now stream officially on Twitch again. Amouranth also took advantage of this immediately and showed an ASMR livestream for their fans on the same evening. The native Texan was much more buttoned up than usual and also refrained from the so-called “licking ears” in the ASMR sequence.

Platform name Twitch
Parent company Amazon

Users per day approx. 17.5 million (as of October 2020)

Nevertheless, many fans are dissatisfied with the signal that Twitch is sending here, as some are of the opinion that more consistent action should have been taken here. In the last few weeks in particular, Twitch has opened the door to very revealing streams and content with the introduction of the “Pools, Hot-Tubs and Beaches” category, which is a thorn in the side of many viewers. Twitch started back then as a streaming platform for video games, and with “Just Chatting” it has moved more and more away from the gaming issue. The well-known German Twitch streamer MontanaBlack has often criticized the fact that Amazon’s streaming platform often interprets its rules very differently.

Update from June 21st, 2021: After Twitch banned streamers Amouranth and Indiefoxx, the community is still wondering what the reason could have been. The fact is that both Twitch stars streamed ASMR videos in leggings and celebrated the so-called “licking ears” a lot. These streams are usually staged in such a way that the camera is pointed at the streamer at an angle from behind and the bottom receives a lot of attention in perspective. Often “yoga poses” are also performed, but experts often have problems interpreting the exercise correctly. In another stream withdrew Kaitlyn Siragusa a horse head mask over and kicked her microphone, which for many viewers certainly seemed a bit disturbing.

In addition to the reason for the ban, the duration is still unknown. It’s not the first ban on Twitch for Amouranth and Indiefoxx. Both streamers have already received more than 3 bans on the Amazon streaming platform. Many fans believe that both streamers will be unbanned again after just 3 days. During her time off on Twitch, Amouranth is currently promoting her other platform on Twitch, where you can see more of her very private content.

Update from June 19, 2021: It had emerged. The curious ASMR trend all around squeaky licking ears has now claimed its first victims. Only a few weeks after big streamers like Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa or Jenelle “Indiefoxx” Dagres said goodbye to the controversial hot tub streams in order to devote themselves again to ASMR, the bang follows. Both Twitch stars received a ban within the same night. Is the new ASMR trend a reason for this?

Twitch: ASMR trend calls for first victims – Amourant and Indiefoxx banned

Opinions differ on this. For many, the two streamers have so much body-hugging charisma that almost every action, be it in a hot tub or tight leggings, could lead to a Twitch ban. Others argue that Twitch lost control of the hot tub streams and sat out the situation until the most controversial streamers return to ASMR. There the guidelines are much stricter than with the pool streams and bans are easier to legitimize.

The fact is: Amouranth and Indiefoxx were only banned when they had re-established themselves in the ASMR area. A single clip or a single situation may have triggered the lock. In the case of Kaitlyn Siragusa, fans are speculating about whether a disturbing masked video was the reason for Amouranth’s ban. With her colleague Indiefoxx, however, there has been hardly any speculation about the trigger so far. The scope of the bans is also still unknown at this point in time.

First report from June 16, 2021: San Francisco, USA – There has been a lot of buzz on Twitch over the past few months because of the new hot tub category. Large parts of the streaming service’s community clearly opposed the hype and criticized it heavily. Only a short time later, the hype now seems to be over and affected streamers: Inside have already come up with something new. Recently, they no longer appear in swimwear, but in leggings and, for example, imaginarily lick the ears of their viewers. The next controversy is imminent – this time around ASMR livestreams.

Twitch: hot tub streams controversial – now the next trend in its own category

At the beginning of the year, more and more streamers showed up: inside a whirlpool in live streams. Because on Twitch, so-called hot tub streams were a big hit and many streamers wanted to get involved in the hype. Quite a few of them even bared themselves down to their bikini in order to get even more attention. The controversy was inevitable and divided the Twitch community. Because quite a few also endorsed the trend and channels like those from IndieFoxx, XoAeriel and Amouranth rose to the elite class on Twitch through hot tub streams. Today they have millions of followers.

Actually it was Just Chatting-Area created by the streaming service from San Francisco so that streamers can entertain their viewers away from video games. But suddenly whirlpool streams took over the category, which caused a lot of criticism. For this reason, the platform had to react and decided to create a new category for beaches and pools on Twitch. In a statement it said: “While we have guidelines about suggestive content, it is not against our guidelines to be perceived as attractive by others and Twitch will not enforce it as a result.

Twitch: ASMR streams overshadow hot tubs – streamers: inside join the new trend

But as for many previous trends, the time has now come for the HotTub streams. The number of viewers is dropping every hour. Streamers: Inside have to come up with something new and therefore start with ASMR streams. The new hype is going through the roof and leaving the hot tub category far behind. Statistics from the last seven days show that ASMR streams were watched for far longer than those in the whirlpool. According to Sullygnome these were viewed a total of 2.1 million hours within a week, while the pool streams only reached 1.8 million hours.

Ranking category Spectator hours
1 Just Chatting 62.113.498
29 ASMR 2.163.939
30 Chivalry 2 2.054.310
31 Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege 2.015.469
32 Rust 1.985.323
33 Talk Shows & Podcasts 1.885.250
34 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1.837.644
35 Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches 1.837.065

It is easy to see that there has been a huge decline in the hot tub streams space. A massive factor should be the streamers, who are now much more stirring up the ASMR area. Here, too, viewers are entertained by the fact that the Twitch stars are sitting in front of the cameras in leggings, for example. Now you no longer paint your own body or jump in the pool, but instead, for every donation or sub-goal, the ears of the audience are licked imaginarily with a special ASMR microphone. This means that the principle of how donations are collected remains essentially the same.
