Lorenzo Abbatiello and Karine Emond recently opened the doors of Amore Italia. The delicatessen located in the former Cap-Saint-Ignace rest stop on Route 132 offers various typically Italian products as well as several choices of home-made ready-to-eat meals.
Amore Italia will offer several types of ingredients of Italian origin to cook typical dishes of this country. There are, for example, different types of oils or pastes. There are also snacks, chocolates and candies that cannot be found in non-specialized grocery stores.
For the owners, it is important that their employees are familiar with these somewhat special products so that they can explain to customers how to incorporate the ingredients into their menu. “We want to reproduce the concept of small grocery stores of the time with a friendly atmosphere, employees who get to know their customers. The sauces are even made with my grandmother’s recipe. “, explains Mr. Abbatiello.
Mr. Abbatiello and Ms. Emond have been renting the premises from the municipality for several months. They carried out their work to give the place a welcoming atmosphere with bright colors reminiscent of Italy. “We wanted people to come in and feel transported to Italy with all the beautiful things that are found in this country. »
However, they put this project on hold as they took charge of the Bistro de la Seigneurie in Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies during the summer. They will continue to take care of the Bistro, but they now have two employees to help them with the project in Cap-Saint-Ignace. Amore Italia was therefore able to open its doors on October 5.
Eat like in Italy
Ready-to-eat products will occupy a significant part of the store. Dessert, pizza, lasagna and sauces are available on site. Although it is possible to eat on site, everything is ready for people in a hurry who wish to return home. “It is also possible to order in advance for more special products. For example, some people want a vegetarian lasagna, others a meat one. » Specialty coffees are also available on site.
Pizzas cooked in a wood oven are always available. They are prepared with recipes designed by Mr. Abbatiello who likes to try various combinations of flavors in order to create completely original pizzas. Cakes and other pastries, such as tiramisus or cannolis, are also typical of Italy: “Italian desserts are less sweet than those found here, they are better eaten in my opinion. I find them exceptional. »
For the moment, Amore Italia will be open from Thursday to Sunday, but the owners want to adapt their opening hours according to customer demand.
