Nutrition experts and doctors said that despite the benefits of coffee for many, it is prohibited to drink it in 10 categories, including pregnant women, heart patients and children under 12 years old, due to its serious side effects on these groups.
According to what was reported by the “Eat This, Not That” website, according to nutrition experts, the people who should avoid drinking coffee for better health are as follows:
1. Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Caffeine can increase the fluidity of the intestines, including increasing the chances of developing diarrhea, which is one of the main symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.
2. Patients with eye pressure: According to research conducted by Mount Sinai Hospital (Manhattan), drinking more caffeine increases the risk of developing glaucoma (blue water) in those who are already predisposed to increased eye pressure.
3. Patients with overactive bladder: It is best, according to nutrition experts, to avoid a large cup of coffee before a long trip, especially if rest periods in the toilet are limited, because caffeine intake can increase the frequency of urination, for those who suffer from overactive bladder.
4. Heart patients: Because the caffeine in coffee can cause temporary increases in blood pressure and heart rate, it is important for anyone with pre-existing heart conditions to talk to their healthcare provider about whether or not consuming coffee is safe.
5. Pregnant women: The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends that pregnant women limit caffeine to 200 milligrams (about two cups of coffee) per day to reduce the risk of miscarriage, premature labor and low birth weight.
6. Nursing Mothers: Since caffeine is a stimulant and diuretic, the concern is that a nursing mother may be at risk of dehydration if she drinks coffee.
7. Those who suffer from sleep disorders: Coffee actually affects the quality of sleep, so experts recommend avoiding caffeine at least six hours before bedtime.
8. People who are prone to panic attacks: According to doctors, caffeine being a stimulant, may exacerbate anxiety in some individuals, and may cause panic attacks.
9. Those with diarrhea Some people rely on their morning cup of coffee to “move their bowels,” but this effect is not desirable if you suffer from diarrhoea.
10. Children under 12 years old: Doctors said that excessive caffeine intake by children can lead to increased heart rate, increased feelings of anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and stomach upset.
