With protest songs by Violeta Parra and Victor Jara, and amid Cuban flags and banners with the figure of Che Guevara, hundreds of people wait for the concert of Silvio Rodriguez in the Plinth From Mexico City.
From 6:00 in the morning, the first attendees began to arrive to be closer to the stage where it is expected that the concert will begin at 8:00 p.m., which will open Vivir Quintana.
“We arrived in the morning because we want to see Silvio up close. We didn’t have money to see it at the National Auditorium, but we couldn’t miss this concert. How many times can you see a singer of this category and for free”, the García family, who arrived at 10:00 in the morning, from Ecatepec, State of Mexico, tells EL UNIVERSAL.
On the Zócalo plate, various merchandise is offered, from Silvio Rodríguez LPs at 500 pesos, commemorative T-shirts to dolls with the figure of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Some protesters who participated in the commemorative march for the 51 years of the “Halconazo”, raise their banners in the middle of the people.
Organizers ask attendees to wear face masks and, where possible, keep a healthy distance, while the Plaza de la Constitución fills little by little.
