Amok makers are again on the street in Anderlecht, dozens … (Interior)

Brussels / Anderlecht –

After the riots on Thursday evening, young people gathered again in the center of Anderlecht on Friday afternoon. The police are present en masse and have already made at least 80 arrests. Including anarchists who had mixed with the young. A police vehicle is also said to have been set on fire.

Young people hold a forbidden march through the streets of Anderlecht on Friday afternoon and carry signs with ‘Justice for Adil’. The 19-year-old young man died in a police chase this spring. It was decided on Thursday that the two agents involved will not be prosecuted.

Young people immediately called for revenge for Adil’s death, something they did last spring. Then there were very serious riots in Anderlecht and even a cop’s weapon was stolen from a combination that was completely destroyed.

On Thursday evening, about twenty young people were arrested during a demonstration. Around 10 pm peace returned to Anderlecht. But there was an immediate call to return today.

A group of protesters had gathered in front of the town hall on the Raadsplein on Friday afternoon around 2 pm and wanted to go from there to the site of the fatal accident, on the Nijverheidskaai, but in the Van Lintstraat the protesters were surrounded by the police. The rioters then began to bombard the police with fireworks.

The police have arrested at least 80, which has been confirmed by the local police Brussels South (Anderlecht, Sint-Gillis, Forest). These include anarchists who had mixed with the demonstrators.

Meanwhile, a police vehicle was also set on fire.

The police, who are present with a water cannon, will remain on duty because tonight there are fears for new riots. The young people are calling for this via social media.
