From November 15 to 17, the Amnesty International group in Thionville invites the company La Chaloupe to produce its play in middle and high schools in the area as well as at the Maison des Quartiers in Thionville. The piece is part of the 2023 project of the Amnesty group in Thionville, namely the defense of the rights of migrants, exiles and refugees.
“Our concern is to recall that behind a term that is often degrading and sometimes anxiety-provoking (wave, tide, flow of migrants, migratory crisis) to designate migrants, it is above all a question of human beings whose lives have been turned upside down, and whose the migratory journey turns out to be traumatic for most. Restoring their identity and their humanity allows us to better defend the human rights of those who have been weakened by exile. »
The La Chaloupe company, in its play In [e] , traces the migratory journey and emphasizes the difficulties encountered, the violence suffered by migrants, but also the clichés and prejudices they arouse. A wandering piece that brings the viewer into the experience of a migrant.
Four performances
Four performances will take place at the Saint-Exupéry high school in Fameck, on Wednesday November 15 for first year students; at the Mermoz college in Yutz on November 16, two performances for fourth grade students; at the Maison des Quartiers in Thionville, two performances on November 17. The first for high school and middle school students from the Charlemagne high school at the beginning of the afternoon and for the general public at 8 p.m. (free entry).
Nearly 400 young people will be invited to reflect on their view of migration and the human rights of people forced to flee their country.
Amnesty International’s Thionville group wanted to highlight this issue at a time when yet another bill aimed at further weakening migrants is under discussion in the National Assembly.
