Amnesia! On 15.11.2012 Borisov signed the investment decision for “South Stream” – 2024-09-19 14:52:32

/ world today news/ On November 15, 2012, Bulgaria signed the final investment decision for the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline. The contract was signed by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors Alexey Miller.

Today in the National Assembly, Boyko Borisov stated that he still cannot come to terms with the South Stream contract. None of us has read a figure of how much Bulgaria will win and since when, he said.

On November 15, then Prime Minister Boyko Borisov stated: The negotiations were difficult. Therefore, we have achieved a price that is slightly higher than that of Germany, of the countries that do not invest billions of euros in the development of a gas field in Russia. If we also withdraw a few billion, we will not pay such a price.

Today /November 15, 2012/ we signed a final investment decision and I must say that Bulgaria is proceeding with the implementation of the project together with us, said the chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors Alexey Miller after the signing of the agreement /November 15, 2012/ for “South Stream”. This means that this is a final agreement between the two parties to start construction, Miller said, and congratulated everyone on this momentous event. Bulgaria is becoming one of the largest transporters for supplying Russian gas to Europe. This raises the status of Bulgaria as a player in the gas supply market, he added. Deliveries of Russian gas will begin in December 2015. We worked with our Bulgarian colleagues on a tight schedule. All tasks were accomplished on time, Miller said.

For his part, Economy Minister Delyan Dobrev stated that the length of the “South Stream” route is 540 km with a 59 km deviation. “The pipelines are over 900 m in total. We have three compressor stations with a receiving station on the coast of the Black Sea. The entry point is south of Varna, the northern point is at the border with Serbia. After the start of operation of the gas pipeline, we will not be dependent on other countries, through which the gas passes, it will enter from Russia directly to Bulgaria. Mr. Miller is right that we are building a gas border between Bulgaria and Russia with this project.

We will certainly have additional security of supply. Bulgaria is the last of the countries participating in the project to finally sign “South Stream”. At the moment, all countries have made a final decision and can continue with the remaining phase of the project’s development,” added the Minister of Economy and Energy Delyan Dobrev at the time. He commented that we will continue to receive the revenues we receive from the existing gas transmission system – a little in the same volume. Quantities of gas will continue to flow to both Greece and Turkey, Dobrev said.

On December 1, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow was abandoning the construction of South Stream with a capacity of 63 billion cubic meters. gas that was supposed to connect Russia and Bulgaria along the bottom of the Black Sea. At the same time, Gazprom will build a new offshore gas pipeline with the same capacity for Turkey. A new gas hub will be built on the Turkish-Greek border.
