Amman – Microsoft has fixed, via November patch KB5032190, a long-standing bug in Windows 11 that caused AMD GPU settings to reset on every reboot.
The operating system will not reset custom GPU settings to default values after installing the patch.
On September 26, users first reported this issue when they noticed that Windows 11 automatically resets custom settings for AMD GPUs on every reboot.
Microsoft fixed compatibility issues with AMD systems with the November 2023 patch for Windows 11 for versions 23H2 and 22H2.
This means that Windows now remembers AMD’s settings preferences, and you won’t lose customization or performance-related settings on every reboot.
Users see improvements when using Adrenalin version 23.10.2 or later with Windows 11 with the November patch KB5032190.
Microsoft is adding this patch to Windows 11 (23H2) via the Media Creation Tool.
Some users pointed out that Windows Update does not solve the problem for everyone, and a few users are still facing the frustrating problem of resetting AMD settings, although Windows 11 Update is not responsible in this situation and the problem in this case may be related to another reason.
November patch KB5032190 brought new problems, such as a bug that causes systems to freeze upon reboot. In some cases, your system may fail to apply the update during installation and continue to fail again upon reboot.
One user said: “Last week my device started having problems rebooting for some inexplicable reason; It fails to load the operating system and the screen displays a Windows restart problem.
He added: “Safe mode works, although the problem detection tools did not find any problem, and I discovered that uninstalling the latest update allowed the device to work again.”
Another user confirmed that Windows 11 causes a few reboots before rolling back the update.
Microsoft acknowledged in the support document two known problems, and explained that it is working on a new update for Windows to be released in the coming months that corrects the problems.
