In a forthcoming meeting with the country’s governors, the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, will ask them to sign an agreement to launch a pension for people with disabilities with universal character.
At a press conference, in which the Governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo Del Mazo Maza, was present, he announced that the meeting will take place on December 16 in Villahermosa, Tabasco.
“We will hold the meeting with the Governors, in which we will analyze various issues, including: Pension for people with disabilities, since it is necessary to increase coverage”, He pointed.
He also mentioned that the intention is for the support to extend from 19 to 64 years of age, because so far it is only granted to minors under 19 years of age.
It should be noted that in the case of the pension for people with disabilities, it is applied for boys and girls up to 19 years of age to 89,267 from poor families, which is why López Obrador now proposes that it be universal.
The head of the Federal Executive explained that the proposal is for his administration to contribute 50% and the states a similar percentage.
“We want to increase support for this sector of the population, because it needs it, and that is why we will be making the corresponding approach to the governors in the coming days.”, He concluded.
