The United States and Mexico add 157,000 deaths due to Covid-19, 127,000 and 30,000, respectively, while in Canada 8,600 have died.

“The wrong message will be sent to our citizens if the Prime Minister (Trudeau) does not respect health restrictions for attending an event in Washington,” the Canadian government press office told the magazine Proceso, in case Trudeau traveled to Washington.

The illusion of visiting Juárez
One of the events that most excites the Mexican president is his visit to Virginia Avenue, very close to the Watergate building in Washington. It is the statue of Benito Juárez. According to a diplomatic source, it is in the best interest of President López Obrador to attend the place with an offering of flowers, and in the place, he will dedicate a few words to the memory of the former president of Mexico between the years 1858 and 1872.
“It is an event to which the President will dedicate great importance on his trip due to the admiration he has” for Juárez. “His words are expected to highlight the influence that Mexicans have had in the United States throughout history.”
A group of Mexicans who have been critical of President Trump will organize a demonstration on Wednesday where the statue of Juárez is located, Dolores Pineda, belonging to that group, revealed from Washington.
“As this is the first trip abroad by President López Obrador, expectations have been massively accumulated,” says an acting Mexican ambassador who is in a European country but who asks to remain anonymous because he is not authorized to comment. “He had to have met with Trump and other presidents since last year,” he says, “that would have taken the pressure off visiting Washington during election season.”
According to the journalist Dolia Estévez, the activities that President López Obrador will carry out in Washington between next Wednesday and Thursday will be, in addition to the visit to the Juárez statue, a visit to the Abraham Lincoln monument, a dinner with businessmen in the White House and a joint statement with President Trump. The topics to be addressed will be related to the new trade agreement between the three countries.
