AMLO: unacceptable, Marko Cortés’ proposal on “narcoterrorism”

Mexico City. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador considered “unacceptable” the proposal by PAN senator Marko Cortés to classify the crime of “narcoterrorism” so that international aid can be requested through it, since this would mean opening the door to acts of “interference” by the foreign.

In today’s morning conference, the president paused in his presentation on the return of the operational and administrative command of the National Guard to the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) to refer to the proposal made by Cortés in the Senate, just when said reform was voted on.

“There is something that I want to show you, something that demonstrates an intention of the foreigner to be able to interfere in the affairs of Mexico. I wonder if the intervention of the PAN leader came from him or from whom,” López Obrador asked himself.

Immediately, he requested that a fragment of the debate in the Senate be shown in which Cortés asks the Morenoist Adán Augusto López Hernández if the majority bench in the Upper House would be willing to classify the crime of terrorism, in the case of criminal groups that They intimidate the population, “so that there is international collaboration and criminals can be arrested, as in the case of the Mayo Zambada.”

Upon seeing this image, the President said, he recalled that the former US president Donald Trump offered him at the time to send him security forces for this type of work, “and I told him no, and I explained to him that we have to deal with Mexico’s affairs.” solve us.”

If they have accepted, and classify criminal groups as “terrorist”, “they can enter not only by organized criminals, but by anyone, and that is a flagrant violation of our sovereignty. That should never be allowed and that’s why I didn’t want to let it go, because they are going to continue insisting in the future, and before leaving, I wanted to establish my position.”

López Obrador recalled that Trump also made this offer in the case of the massacre of the LeBarón family, which occurred on November 4, 2019, but reiterated: “I told him no, that we were going to resolve the matter and stop – as already “We did it – to all those who had participated in this case of the unfortunate loss of lives of women and children in Bavispe, Sonora.”
