This Monday, September 30, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, leaves the position for which he fought for 18 years: that of head of the Executive Branch, for which he assured that he leaves very satisfied with the work achieved in 6 years, while also thanking the journalists for accompanying him to the press conference known as La Mañanera, which, it is enough to mention, is the last.
From the Treasury Room of the National Palace, the founder of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) reiterated his excitement that the conference will continue with the six-year term of Claudia Sheinbaum, who will take office tomorrow, October 1, the date on which will also see Mexico have a woman as president for the first time in its history.
Visibly excited to be able to conclude a six-year term that he described as successful, the Moreno member assured that he leaves office very satisfied with the achievements, but he does so more for having attended to the causes and especially the most vulnerable population, leading him to recite the phrase that he has characterized his six-year term and which remains as part of the new government.
“I can’t help but say that I am very satisfied with the affection of many Mexicans, women and men, which I appreciate with all my heart. I dedicated myself to serving the people, I feel very proud, very happy that we served everyone, we listened to everyone, but we gave preference to those most in need, we put into practice our principle that for the good of all, the poor come first.” .
After highlighting the above, the still president of Mexico maintained that the slogan that has characterized the so-called Fourth Transformation has not only served his party and those seeking public office to gain followers, but also that this was, throughout His government made it a reality that led him to celebrate the fact that millions of Mexicans were leaving poverty.
“It was not only a proclamation, it became a reality because we managed to reduce poverty and inequality in our country despite the pandemic and it knocked down our economy like it had not happened in more than a century,” he celebrated.

Under this tone, the president also insisted that during his government and especially despite the health crisis, the country’s economy was not affected, which led him to highlight his excitement at concluding an important period successfully, especially for the debt that was left in past six-year terms.
“We got up and managed to recover economic growth, even though it was limited by that external economic crisis and even though the economy grew little as a distribution of wealth and the budget,” the president said, visibly moved.
The Morenista who has announced that he will move to Palenque, Chiapas, subsequently focused on highlighting some of his achievements, among which the following stand out:
Social programs: Implementation of programs such as “Young People Building the Future” and “Pension for the Well-being of Older Adults”, seeking to support the most vulnerable sectors of society.
Fight against corruption: Creation of the National Guard and other initiatives to combat corruption, although the results and effectiveness of these measures have been a matter of debate.
Infrastructure projects: Construction of the Mayan Train, the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and the Dos Bocas Refinery begin, promoting infrastructure and economic development in different regions of the country.
Labor reform: Approval of the labor reform that includes significant changes in the regulation of outsourcing and improvements in workers’ rights.
Energy and sovereignty: Commitment to energy sovereignty through the revitalization of Pemex and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), although this has been criticized for its impact on renewable energies.
