This Friday during the inauguration ceremony of a barracks belonging to the National Guard (GN) in Culiacán, Sinaloa, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, confirmed that before the end of this school year, students from all over the country will return to face-to-face classes.
The president affirmed that the priority before anything else is to guarantee the main human right, that is, the right to health, ensuring that all educational personnel will be vaccinated to fulfill the promise of the reactivation of schools before June.
Obrador also recognized the importance of the right to education and mentioned that even though the online classes have been a great support to avoid stagnating the studies of millions of students, they are not the best, in addition to knowing that teachers, teachers and the The student community in general is looking forward to meeting again in the classrooms soon.
Contrary to what was announced by AMLO, the governor of Nuevo León, Jaime “El Bronco” Rodríguez, assured that the current school year will end as a start, in distance mode, postponing face-to-face classes until the 2021-2 / 2022-1 school year , if the pandemic allows it.
It was during a virtual meeting with the mayors of the entity, that the president classified as “impossible” to reopen schools in the state when the immunization of teachers has not been achieved, recalling the decision taken last December 2020, where authorities of Nuevo León agreed to the reopening of the classrooms, registering an increase in covid-19 cases shortly after and being forced to close the educational institutions again.
On March 5, the President of the Mexican Republic declared that the return to face-to-face classes will be carried out gradually and in an orderly manner, beginning with the state of Campeche and gradually extending to other states where the epidemiological traffic light is green and / or or yellow. So far in Mexico only Campeche, Chiapas and Sonora are in green.
