AMLO: Maru Campos and César Duarte agreed to accuse Corral

The accusations of alleged corruption against former Chihuahua governor Javier Corral are fabricated, said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

This persecution, he said, is due to a political agreement between the current governor of that state, Maru Campos, and the former head of the local Executive, César Duarte –who is accused of his alleged responsibility in crimes of embezzlement and criminal association–.

It is a political matter, as we have already explained, it is revenge because Corral filed the charges against the former governor of Chihuahua, Duarte. PRI figures were involved in those corruption charges. I believe that even some media outlets made public everything that was aired at that time, they called it Operation Sapphire.

In the morning press conference, in response to a new question on the subject, after the failed attempt to arrest Corral in a restaurant in Mexico City by ministerial agents from Chihuahua, the president insisted that there is an alliance between Campos and Duarte, who last June was favored with a judicial decision to face the trial against him for the crimes he is accused of, both with aggravated penalties, under house arrest.

He recalled that Duarte tried to seek refuge in the United States due to the investigations that were undertaken by the Corral administration, but he was arrested in that country and extradited to Mexico.

But he makes an agreement with the current governor, a political agreement, they work together against Corral and fabricate this accusation against him. That is what exists.said the head of the federal executive.

He said that the intention of the Chihuahua authorities was to arrest Corral – who will be a senator for the Fourth Transformation movement and is part of the close team of the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum – before he has immunity.

Because if not, they have to make a formal request as established by law, to strip him of his immunity and judge him.he stressed.
