The government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador lost control of his country, declared former United States Attorney General Bill Barr in an interview with Fox News.
“I went there a couple of times to see if we could stiffen the spine of this president (López Obrador) who believes in hugs, not bullets, and he is losing. They have lost control of the country, in my opinion,” he maintained.

The former US prosecutor also expressed his concern that the Mexican government shares the sovereignty of the cartels and their “modus vivendi.”
He warned that the cartels have tens of billions of dollars at their disposal and with this they can corrupt whoever they want in Mexico.
“They have armies, literally armies that are increasingly paramilitary and armored vehicles,” he said.
“What has always worried me is that the Mexican government is going to share sovereignty with the cartels and reach a modus vivendi with them. And we have no control over that territory. And now we have lost control of the border,” he stressed.
Barr praised Donald Trump’s leadership on border security, saying he “fought like hell” against federal judges and opposition interest groups.
He indicated that the recent violence on the border should worry the United States and considered that Vice President Kamala Harris is failing in her role.
