Ichkabal. Continuing his tour of Quintana Roo on projects associated with the Maya Train, which included supervising the progress in the authorization and opening of this important archaeological zone, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that “the train will start operating before the end of the year. I will no longer be there. General (Gustavo) Vallejo (responsible for the project) will be there. We have a budget.”
With this, I inherit the full inauguration of the project to the administration of Claudia Sheimbaun. During an act of supervision of the works around the archaeological zone of Ichkabal (soon to open), López Obrador stressed that he had a budget to finance a project whose total cost was 500 billion pesos.
He recalled that this is a similar amount to what there was in tax evasion in the past, when large companies and businessmen did not pay taxes. “As almost everyone is behaving well now, they are already contributing. A round of applause to the large taxpayers.”
He pointed out that the Yaquis have a maxim about how things are done: “before as it was before, now as it is now. Before they could do their things (tax evasion by businessmen), now they can’t, because now it is like now. The businessmen have behaved very well and that is why we have achieved the transformation.”
This weekend we traveled on the Mayan Train with the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, to the stations of Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Bacalar.
It is the most important work carried out in the world. Its 1,554 kilometers represent thousands… pic.twitter.com/ep2STxyqXI
