AMLO delivers economic incentives to athletes of Paris 2024

Mexico City. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador led the delivery of economic incentives to those who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games this afternoon.

In his last act with the selected members as national leader, the head of the Executive congratulated the director of CONADE, Ana Guevara, for “resisting” the attacks against her.

“I want to thank Ana very much for everything she endured. She was questioned and she did not stop working. One has to develop character and the most important thing is to be in good standing with our conscience. She did a very good job, she helped a lot and I thank her for that,” she said.

López Obrador applauded the efforts of the Mexican athletes, who he assured he will follow on television in their upcoming competitions.

“We can say that there has been progress in the sports field in general. You inspire many people and I am sure that we will continue to excel in all disciplines. We must keep moving forward and not give up,” he told them.

Guevara highlighted the historic support of the current administration.

“They are the delegation with the most resources, the President marked a milestone with the support he gave them. For me it was an honor to work hand in hand with a government that has made history. Thank you all for making Mexico stand out. It is not a goodbye, it is a see you soon.”

In her turn, Prisca Awitti, silver medallist in judo, thanked the support given, which she will use to prepare for the next Olympic cycle.

“We put our heart and soul into it. Some of us came close, but we all made an effort. We will study our rivals for Los Angeles 2028 better and bring better results,” he said.

The award ceremony was attended by medal winners Juan Celaya and Osmar Olvera (diving), the women’s archery team and boxer Marco Verde. The president was accompanied by the Secretaries of Defense and the Navy, as well as the head of the Ministry of Education.

Olympic and Paralympic gold medalists will receive a prize of 3 million pesos, silver medalists 2 million pesos and bronze medalists 1 million pesos. Participants who have not won a medal will receive 240 thousand pesos.
