AMLO confirms desecration of graves of Dámaso López’s father and brother in Sinaloa

MEXICO CITY (apro).- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed the desecration of graves in Sinaloa, “but there is nothing more than that” and although he is confident that violence will not break out, he sent more elements of the federal forces and called on them to take care of “the land where we were born.”

“And yes, there was this case that you mentioned, the desecration of the tombs, but there is nothing more to it than that. The corresponding investigation is being carried out,” he said.

This Monday, it was reported that the bodies of the father and brother of Dámaso López Núñez “el Licenciado” were taken from the cemetery in Eldorado, a municipality west of Culiacán, during the early morning hours.

Although the president did not specify how many and from which security corporation, he said that “more elements are already being sent to that region of the country; however, there are none so far and I hope that does not happen, there is no indication of confrontations, nothing, this for the peace of mind of Sinaloa, Durango, and that region of the country.”

Asked if he does not think there is a risk of violence increasing, he replied: “No, we have no records of that so there is no concern. If we see that these events may occur, we will inform people. I do not think that will happen.”

In any case, he urged everyone to act responsibly. “The most sacred thing is life, we have to take care of it, protect it (…) yes, we are paying attention. There is nothing strange, exceptional in the entire region and I hope that we do not have any problems because I have great confidence in everyone’s responsibility. In addition, taking care of families and taking care of others, of our neighbors, people have no responsibility in these matters.”

He therefore called on people to take care of Durango, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Campeche. “Take care of our states, take care of the land where we were born and take care of our beloved Mexico, our homeland.”
