Mexico City. Next week, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and President-elect Claudia Sheimbaum will hold a meeting to discuss the budget for the remainder of this year and for 2025.
“I think we will have a joint meeting on Tuesday regarding the Treasury Department. Here (at the National Palace), to talk about the fiscal situation, income, the budget, the end of this year,” said the president during the morning press conference on Thursday.
It should be remembered that the future federal president decided to continue in office for her administration the current head of the Treasury Department, Rogelio Ramírez de la O.
In this context, Sheimbaum and Lopez Obrador will meet in a little over a month in view of the change of government, in which they will also discuss “the preparation of next year’s project, which is the responsibility of the members of the new team. But we help in everything.”
The Tabasco native insisted that his successor “is an exceptional woman, very prepared, experienced, sensitive, honest, upright, and does not allow herself to be blackmailed. And it is necessary, with respect for everyone, guaranteeing freedoms, aplomb is needed, because there are some who are very advantageous. Imagine how they want to return to their privileges, they even make a fool of themselves.”
He stressed that in a few weeks he will hand over the baton to his fellow party member and said that if she is willing, she is welcome to attend a morning press conference before he finishes his term.
“She is always welcome, she is our colleague and very soon she will be our president. My president and that of all Mexicans! My commander of the armed forces!”
He also stated that he will invite Sheinbam to the event where she will present her last government report, on September 1, and to the Grito de Independencia ceremony, on the 15th of that same month.
