President Andrés Manuel López Obrador warned that it has sufficient information that the workers who quoted their pensions through Afores they will begin to receive incomplete pensions in the next few years, and “that is going to make a crisis”, so their government is already preparing a proposal, together with the business sector, to resolve this situation.
“What worries us most is to be able to guarantee a fair pension to retirees. With the Afores system, which was implemented in the neoliberal period, there is a risk, there is sufficient information that the workers will not receive what they saved, which was discounted. That will start to make crisis. ”
“I told them last time that starting in 2023 they will start receiving incomplete pensions, retired workers and will continue to grow because of this decision that was made in the neoliberal period, we have to fix that, it is a major problem.”

In press conferenceIn the National Palace, the president said that, fortunately, there is awareness in the business sector about this situation.
“Especially in the labor sector, and we are going to start analyzing a proposal that, even, is being prepared by the business sector, to solve this problem of medium and long term, which is something serious if it is not addressed.
“So, we already made the commitment that we are going to seek to solve this and the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SCHP) is working.”
