The political commentator of News 12, Amit Segal, referred today (Wednesday) to Minister Orit Struck’s uproar interview this morning (Wednesday) on IDF airwaves, he came to the Minister’s defense and claimed that her words were taken out of context at the military station.
“I listened to the entirety of Orit Struck’s interview in Glatz. 1. The editor who published the headline did a terribly negligent job or worse – malicious defamation. 2. Politicians who condemned what she said – either did not listen and were found to be shallow or listened and were found, unpleasantly, to be liars. There are A poignant debate about the abductee deal should be conducted on the basis of facts and not blackmail,” Segal wrote.
As I recall, Struck said during the interview: “A government that takes hundreds of thousands of people into battle for the goals that the government has defined and basically throws the goals of the war in the trash in order to free 22 or 33 while most of the abductees remain in Gaza with no chance of release except by stopping the war – it has no right to exist.”
Minister Struck herself wrote: “This morning, in an interview with Galach, I expressed in a reasoned manner our opposition to the proposed deal. One may agree, one may not, it is forbidden under any circumstances to delegitimize this opinion, which is shared by many people, what the editors of Glatz did in publishing the things very partially and presenting them in an opaque and belittling manner – it is a disgrace! I demand an apology from them and above all I demand from them, and from the rest of the media, to allow a decent expression of all opinions on this complex issue.”
