Hot political debate in this week’s episode of “Renée’s Bridge” 2024
It is offered heated political debate in this week’s episode of Renée’s bridge 2024 when the presenter Amie Bramme Seythe carpenter and presenter Lee Christiernsson and the prime minister himself Ulf Kristersson visiting the pier. As the episode draws to a close, Ulf poses the question to Lee about how to make the regulations easier for non-binary people in Sweden, a topic of conversation that leads to Amie daring to question Ulf.
– The trans debate is about life and death, and on the other hand, I also wonder how you think, Ulf, when you also listen to Lee, weeks after statements from politicians from the Sweden Democratic side, when you equate homosexuality with pedophilia, or that you have a homophobic opinion. To have that collaboration with a party that has this attitude, how do you think about it? Amie asks the prime minister.

– Yes, I think that, i.e. these completely grotesque statements, it was me and many others who strongly condemned it, of course. What I have said all along, and I really stand by it, if you have big problems in a society that you want to solve, then you have to make sure in various ways that you can implement changes that solve those problems. For me, there is no more natural solution than that where you think you are equal, then you gather those who want it and make sure that you make decisions that can implement this and then you stand up where you think we are different and speak out when you think differently, answers Ulf Kristersson.
Amie says she understands what he means but isn’t really happy with his answer.
– I understand what you mean by the collaboration on certain issues that you jointly think are important, while at the same time you can see it as being involved in and legitimizing a certain type of politics that is racist, Islamophobic. There has been a change, because there was a time when you were so adamant and took it into your own hands that you would never cooperate with the Sweden Democrats, says Amie as a counterpart to Ulf.
– Well, but I said like this that I, the famous event, it was when the four Alliance parties went to the polls together before the 2018 election and then it was a prerequisite for that cooperation and I absolutely stand for that. Then I thought it was obvious that when the problems are as big as they are, then it is not possible to decide not to solve the problems by refusing to create majorities in the Riksdag. I think that would have been an unreasonable attitude, replies Ulf.
