Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Moroccan national team defeated its Brazilian counterpart, with two goals to one, in a friendly match that brought together the two teams, during the international break this March.
Sofiane Boufal and Abdel Hamid Sabiri scored the goals of the “Atlas Lions” in the 29th and 79th minutes, while Casemiro scored the only “Samba” goal at the 67th minute.
The match, which was held on the grounds of the Tangiers stadium, at dawn on Sunday, witnessed an exceptional atmosphere, as thousands were present in the stands, and they were keen to support the Moroccan national team in its first appearance after the last World Cup.
This is the first victory for the “Atlas Lions” at the expense of the Brazilian national team, as it has never tasted victory against it in previous confrontations between them.
The Moroccan national team will head to the Spanish capital, Madrid, to meet Peru in a friendly, on the 28th of this month.
