New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and expressed condolences over the death of civilians in Gaza’s Al-Ahli Hospital. Amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, PM Modi assured that India will send humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine. Regarding this, PM Modi said that he has reiterated India’s long-standing principles on the Israel-Palestine issue.
PM Modi tweeted that discussions have taken place between the two countries. He wrote that “Spoke to Palestinian President His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas. Expressed its condolences on the loss of civilian lives at Gaza’s Al Ahli Hospital. We will continue to send humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. “Shared our deep concern over violence, deteriorating security situation and terrorism in the region.” Reiterated India’s long-standing principled position on the Israel-Palestine issue.
500 people died in the explosion in Gaza hospital
Earlier, the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry had said that at least 500 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Ahli Al-Arabi, also known as Baptist Hospital, on the night of October 17. However, Israel Defense Forces had said that it was not behind the hospital explosion. The explosion at the hospital was caused by a misfired rocket launched by Gaza terrorists. Palestinians and most of the Arab world blamed Israel for the hospital blast. He had said that Israel attacked the medical center and hundreds of people were killed. Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and others had condemned Jerusalem regarding this.
Israeli PM and President blamed Hamas only
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed ‘barbaric terrorists in Gaza’ for the deaths. “So the whole world knows: The barbaric terrorists in Gaza are the ones who attacked the Gaza hospital, not the IDF (Israel Defense Forces),” Netanyahu said in a statement. He asserted, ‘Those who brutally killed our children, also kill their own children.’ Israeli President Isaac Herzog called Hamas’s allegations a ‘bloody insult’. “An Islamic Jihad missile has killed several Palestinians in a hospital in Gaza – a place where lives must be saved,” Herzog said in a tweet.
