The coach of Amici received terrible news during the talent show. An unimaginable situation for the professor.
Raimondo Todaro is one of the most loved television characters ever, both by adults and younger kids. For a few years now he has been one of the dance teachers of the talent show Friends of Maria De Filippia program that allowed him to make himself better known to everyone.
Thanks to his spontaneity and his way of being direct without ever hurting others, the teacher gained the respect of the students in a short time. But this is not his first television experience.
In fact, it debuted way back 2005 in the second edition of the talent Dancing with the Stars, paired with Cristina Chiabotto and finishing in first place. At just 18 years old, he had already become a celebrity, so much so reconfirmed himself several times as master of the program in subsequent editions.
In the meantime, however, he continued his dancing career with Francesca Tocca, his sweetheart in dance and in life, with whom he became a parent of little Jasmine. Raimondo’s life behind the cameras was not easy at all.
A troubled relationship
In 2020, the couple decided to take two different paths because Francesca had lost her mind for Valentin Dimitru, one of Amici’s students from that edition. Even though the marriage was over, the dancer has always been close to her daughter’s fathereven in a very particular period.
During an interview in Verissimo’s living room, Todaro explained: “I was at home with my daughter Jasmine and she immediately noticed that I wasn’t well. Then in the evening I felt a fever. When I realized that she had risen dramatically, I called my wife Francesca: she reached me at home to understand how I was and together we immediately asked the doctors for help“. At that point the situation worsened.

The terrible diagnosis
The Latin teacher had experienced the first symptoms during the last edition of Dancing with the Stars in which he participated, but the diagnosis arrived the first year he was in the Amici school: “At that time I always underwent checks, because I had only recently I had undergone delicate intestinal surgery, and at the time I had a bad time with it. Outside waiting for me, in the waiting room, was Francesca, who was with me every minute and who actually risked fainting, because the operation was more complicated than expected and I was left under the knife for almost five hours: they had to remove several centimeters of my intestine, which had been compromised due to peritonitis and appendicitis“. The worst came later.
“Everything was fine, I was over the moon, but of course I continued to have checks, because the doctor had been clear: “You can’t take what you’ve had lightly.” And so, following a series of checks, I received it a phone call I never wanted to receive“. She explained that at that moment she was entering the recording room together with Lorella Cuccarini and Alessandra Celentano. “On the phone the doctor told me: ‘Raimondo you have two malignant tumors in your intestine, you need to have surgery immediately’. Needless to say, the world fell on me“. Francesca never abandoned him. “In those hours I was afraid of dying. But luckily it’s over now. Although obviously the checks continue. Prevention is everything“. Now Raimondo hopes to have only a lot of peace with his family.
