The US Special Envoy for Iran, Robert Malley, called on Friday for those responsible for the poisoning of school girls in Iran to be held accountable, adding that girls should not be prevented from continuing their education.
“These poisonings must stop and the perpetrators must be held accountable,” Mali said on Twitter.
He also added, “No one should prevent Iranian girls from pursuing education, which is a human right and necessary to enhance women’s economic security.”
Yesterday, Thursday, the US National Security Council expressed its concern about what it described as reports of widespread poisoning among female students in Iranian schools that may be related to participation in the protests.
Today, Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Abdollahian criticized what he described as the interference of Western officials in the issue of poisoning cases that appeared in some schools, considering that this is a continuation of the war of what he called “enemies.”
Last Wednesday, Fars Agency reported the arrest of three people on suspicion of involvement in this case, pointing out that the security services are conducting an investigation with them.
However, Interior Minister Ahmed Wahidi stressed that the concerned agencies have not yet revealed the presence of a toxic substance that could be the cause of the poisoning of the students.
