America’s Cup kicks off Wednesday March 10

The 2021 America’s Cup is set to begin in earnest on Wednesday March 10 off Auckland, five days later than expected. The four regattas initially scheduled for this Friday and Saturday between the defending champion, Team New Zealand, and his Italian challenger, Red Moon, had been postponed due to the strict confinement imposed in the New Zealand metropolis.

But the government announced on the night of Thursday to Friday that the restrictions will be relaxed from Sunday, allowing the launch of the glorious competition. The organizers confirmed this immediately.

The first two regattas will take place on Wednesday. There will be two more on Friday March 12 and each of the following days, until a winner emerges in this best of 13 series.

However, the race will not yet be broadcast on a giant screen in the city.
