Sales of McDonald’s establishments that have been open for at least a year have increased by 9.5%. Their growth has therefore exceeded the expectations of analysts, who estimate it at only 5.8 percent, according to a survey by Refinitiv. However, net profit in the third quarter fell 8% to $ 1.98 billion (around CZK 48.4 billion).
Higher prices and higher foot traffic in the United States, where consumers are looking for cheaper restaurants due to high inflation, have contributed to the growth. Although McDonald’s, like other fast food operators, has had to raise prices due to rising raw material costs, its meals are still cheaper than regular restaurants, Reuters wrote.
Participation in McDonald’s locations in the United States, the company’s largest market, increased 6.2% in the third quarter. At the same time, in the entire fast food industry in the United States, according to analyst firm Placer.ai, participation only increased by 0.8%.
McDonald’s total sales fell five percent to $ 5.87 billion. However, they exceeded analysts’ expectations, who estimated them at $ 5.7 billion. The value of sales outside the United States was negatively impacted by the stronger dollar exchange rate, the agency AP noted.
