Americans dominate New Zealanders – Fil info – America’s Cup

The first America’s Cup World Series regattas, a prelude to the “real” America’s Cup to be held next March, took place this Thursday in Auckland Bay. And it was the Americans from American Magic who made the biggest impression in the flying monohull duels. At the helm, New Zealander Dean Barker played a nasty trick on his compatriots Peter Burling and Team New Zealand, defending champions and 12 seconds ahead of the US AC75 in today’s final regatta. Before that, American Magic had largely dominated the British team Ineos (Ben Ainslie), plagued by foiling problems, and the Kiwis had beaten the official Italian challenger Luna Rossa (James Spithill). The “small final” turned in favor of Luna Rossa against Team Ineos.
