American Woman Suffers Burns in Medical Error During Artificial Insemination Procedure

As part of her attempts to conceive through artificial insemination, an American woman suffered first-degree burns due to a medical error.

In the details, the woman named Christine went to a medical clinic in Pennsylvania to perform an intrauterine endoscopy.

Endoscopy requires injection of saline into the uterus. But the disaster was when the doctor injected Christine with another solution, so she began to feel severe pain.

The doctor ignored Christine’s complaint, saying that what was happening was normal, only to return and discover that he had not injected saline, but an injection of trichloroacetic acid, which is used in chemical peeling to remove warts and treat skin diseases such as acne and brown spots.

A spokesman for the clinic said the doctor who botched the procedure “was not responsible for the presence of acid in the operating room” and “was not involved in pre-filling the syringe”.

Christine and her husband, Jason, have sued the clinic, saying they intend to hold her and the doctor responsible for the horrific scenario. (Sky News)
