A New York American has been found guilty of poisoning and stealing the identity of a woman who closely resembled her. She is convicted of attempted murder.
Olga Tsvyk received a piece of cheesecake, which was infused with a powerful sedative, from Viktoria Nasyrova. When she finished the cake, she felt sick, lost consciousness and fell into a coma.
A friend found 35-year-old Tsvyk, after which she was taken to hospital. When 47-year-old Nasyrova got the chance, she stole the passport and other valuables.
The two women look very similar. They have dark hair and a similar skin tone. Nasyrova wanted to kill Tvsyk and take over her identity, according to the prosecutor.
But Tvsyk survived the poisoning. The poison in the cheesecake led justice to Nasyrova. When Tsvyk was released from the hospital and returned home, it became apparent that her passport, work permit and other valuables were gone.
Nasyrova has been found guilty of attempted murder, assault and imprisonment, among others. She faces up to 25 years in prison. Sentencing will be pronounced on March 21. The woman was also accused of fatally drugging a neighbor in her native Russia in 2014. She denies the murder.
